A book that addresses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and music ecosystems.
“AI+Music” is a new book that addresses the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and music ecosystems. It combines exploration, reflections, and practical guidance to examine how AI is redefining creation, offering an overview of the context, uses, and ethical and legal challenges that the music industry faces in the new digital era.
Produced by FUTURX (ARG) and LARROSA (ESP), the publication has two main objectives:
To propose a common language to overcome binary and polarized perspectives on AI in the music industry
To catalyze critical and constructive discussions for a future that is already inevitable.
“The driving force around this book is about the urgency of putting the topic on the table, listening to some of the voices that are currently building or thinking about AI in music, and having the tools to discuss each of these tensions with a bit more data than our uncles. It’s about becoming critical, shedding our fear of experimenting with what is ours as a generation, and embracing, experimenting, and playing with new tools.” - Nicolás Madoery
The book features forewords by Nicolás Madoery (FUTURX), Director of the Project, Cristian Larrosa (LARROSA), and Ángel Mestres (Transit).
The text builds on the findings of the report “IA + Música in LATAM” a quantitative and qualitative research study published by FUTURX in 2023, and brings together valuable contributions from music and technology specialists such as Alvinsch (COL), DAOuda (USA), Tomás Balmaceda (AR), Jessica Powell (USA), Alexiomar (USA), and Walter Gammarota (AR).
These experts offer both theory and experience to spark conversations about AI aesthetics, game theory applied to the music industry, the attention economy in a context dominated by social networks and streaming platforms, AI's ethical and legal standards, and more.
“IA+Música” is organized into three chapters. The first, "Context," explores what AI is and how it works, considering both its potentials and the tensions faced by artists and the industry. The second chapter, "Uses," delves into specific AI applications in artistic creation: from communications and project planning to audiovisual design and audio processing, mixing, and mastering. The third chapter, "Ethics," addresses intellectual property issues in the AI era, proposing approaches for a clear regulatory framework that ensures the ethical and fair use of technology.
In summary, this is a book that is n essential guide for the creators of the future.
