HOW DO I GET THERE

The best way to get to Anguilla is via St. Maarten. And the best way to get to St. Maarteen is by flying from Miami. Miami Airport runs several direct and connecting flights to Anguilla daily that will get you there in just 3 hours.

GETTING TO ANGUILLA VIA ST. MAARTEN

Traveling from St. Maarten (Sint Maarten/Saint Martin) to Anguilla is straightforward and can be done by sea or air, with the vast majority of travelers opting for the ferry due to convenience and frequency.

Main Options:

1. FERRY FROM ST. MAARTEN TO ANGUILLA

Public Ferry (Marigot to Blowing Point):

  • The public ferry departs from Marigot, the capital of the French side of St. Martin, and arrives at Blowing Point Ferry Terminal in Anguilla.

  • The crossing takes about 20–25 minutes.

  • Ferries run approximately every 30–45 minutes, with the first departure around 8:30 am and the last at 7:00 pm, though schedules can vary slightly by season.

  • The one-way fare is typically US $30 for adults and children 12 and older, and US $20 for children under 12.

  • You will need cash for the ferry fare and a small departure tax (about US $5 from St. Martin, higher when departing Anguilla).

  • No advance booking is usually required for the public ferry, but you may want to arrive early in peak season.

  • Private/Shared Sea Shuttles (Near Princess Juliana Airport):

    • Several operators (such as Calypso Charters, GB Express, and Link Ferry) run private or semi-private fast ferries from the Dutch side, close to Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM), directly to Anguilla’s Blowing Point Ferry Terminal.

    • The journey takes about 20–25 minutes.

    • These shuttles are more expensive, starting at around US $65 per person one-way.

    • Schedules are frequent, typically from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and pre-booking is recommended, especially if you want a seamless airport-to-ferry transfer.

    • After clearing customs and collecting your luggage at SXM, you will be met by a shuttle representative who will escort you to the nearby dock.

2. FLIGHT FROM ST. MAARTEN TO ANGUILLA

Anguilla Air Services:

  • Offers a very short (7–8 minute) flight from Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) to Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (AXA) in Anguilla.

  • This is the fastest but usually the most expensive option, with fares starting around US $90 one-way.

  • Flights are less frequent than ferries and should be booked in advance.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE: ST. MAARTEN TO ANGUILLA

  1. Arrive at Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) in St. Maarten.

  2. Choose your transfer:

    • For the public ferry: Take a taxi (~30 minutes) to Marigot Ferry Terminal on the French side.

    • For private/semi-private sea shuttles: Walk or take a short taxi ride to the ferry terminal near the airport (most operators provide a meet-and-greet service).

    • For a flight: Proceed to the Anguilla Air Services counter at SXM.

  3. Clear customs and immigration as required.

  4. Pay the applicable fare and departure tax.

  5. Board your ferry or flight to Anguilla.

  6. Arrive at Blowing Point Ferry Terminal or Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport in Anguilla.

Clear Anguilla customs and immigration.

ADDITIONAL TIPS

  • All travelers must clear customs and immigration on both sides.

  • Departure taxes apply and must be paid in cash.

  • If you have a lot of luggage or want a seamless experience, private shuttles are convenient but pricier.

  • The public ferry is the most economical and scenic option, but requires a taxi to Marigot.

In summary, the most popular and cost-effective way to get to Anguilla from St. Maarten is the public ferry from Marigot, while private shuttles and flights offer greater convenience at a higher price.
